I’m a Computer Scientist trained in A.I.

I build technology that is resilient, scalable and human.

I’ve founded an ecommerce startup with breakout growth, been part of teams that built unicorns, led engineering teams of all sizes, and taken several AI products to market. I’ve built deep expertise in many domains — technical, strategic, customer, creative.

My experiences span much of the world, allowing me to understand scalability for broad sets of users and cultural settings.

I write, invest, advise startups on AI strategy, run a podcast called Nerd Immunity, and am active in tech and gender activism through Kamli.NYC, a collective I founded.

I have B.S. and M.S. degrees from MIT in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence. I’m based in New York City.

I’m currently building a SaaS tool that reimagines the future of work. As of Feb 2024, our product is in private beta. Get in touch to learn more.

A podcast that gets nerdy about everything.

Build immunity against complacency, ignorance and arrogance, through conversations with thinkers in ethics, science, politics, technology and culture.

Currently on a podcast hiatus. New episodes in 2024.

Past Work, Past Lives —

  • My first startup, Popinjay

In 2013, I founded an e-commerce startup with a sustainable supply chain across Pakistan, Vietnam & China. Popinjay celebrated human craft, connecting makers to a global community of customers.

Along with giving me some of the most valuable experiences of my life, Popinjay was wildly successful commercially, with a customer footprint spanning 25+ countries, retail partners like Anthropologie, features by CNN, Vogue & BBC, and fans like Diane von Furstenburg.

  • AI Research at MIT

I was a graduate researcher supervised by the legendary Patrick Winston, of the Genesis Group at MIT’s Computer Science & Artificial Intelligence Lab. Our group developed an account of human intelligence by creating computational models of how people tell, perceive and understand stories. You can find my masters thesis here.

My time at CSAIL inspired me to work at the intersection of CS and the humanities, and informed much of my current work.

  • Various Tech Startups

Over the last decade, I’ve worked at several startups, taking products to market and leading engineering teams. I’m particularly proud of my work with —

    • VentureDive - Pakistani tech studio that built 2 unicorns, where I was VP of Product

    • i2i Ventures - Pakistan’s first female-led fund; I was on the Investment Committee

    • BridgeLinx - Tech-enabled logistics in Pakistan

    • Atoms - NYC-based sneaker company

    • Elarian - customer data startup in Kenya where I led GTM strategy

  • AI-Driven Platform to Reduce Infant Mortality

A project I hoId close to my heart: in partnership with the Gates Foundation in Sindh, Pakistan, I led the development of a first-of-its-kind digital platform covering the full journey of maternal & infant health services — enabling real-time care coordination, antenatal decision support, patient records, and clinical workflow management.
